MY SISTER IS NOW MY ANGEL

This month’s blog is in memory of my sister, Kay, who passed away in February.

It is shocking when you get a phone call that your sibling has suddenly died. It is a shock to the mind, heart and spirit.  I have so many wonderful memories, that I will keep deeply in my heart.

Here are a couple of things that I learned from my sister.

LIVE LIFE NOW

Kay loved to travel and in the past few years she went to Europe, China, Australia (she loved tennis so she attended the Australian Open), an African Safari, Hawaii (to reconnect with an old and loved high school classmate, her partner in crime), Mexico & the Mayan ruins. She also made regular out of state trips to visit her daughters and traveled to Arizona and California to attend her niece and nephew’s weddings.  She was fearless and really lived life!

SPEAK YOUR TRUTH

Kay never sugar coated anything. You always knew where she stood; whether you agreed or disagreed it didn’t matter.   You have to admire someone like that and I am thankful for her being such a good example of how she expressed her truth.   She did not have the attitude of “my way or the highway”, she was open to your thoughts and comments regardless if she felt differently.  She was real & truthful!

Kay, I know you are watching over us…an angel to show us how to live, to teach us how to give
and to guide us with a light of love.

Make this New Year, the YOU Year!

 

As we move into this new year of 2014, it is the perfect time to RE-EVALUATE, RE-FOCUS & RE-NEW.

It is the YOU Year!

So we  would like to share some of the things we are working on this year…maybe you can relate.

1. Completely committed to our weekly exercise/fitness regime.

A few months ago we shook things up and started a new high intensity interval training at our local Orange Theory Fitness Center. It is not for everyone, but we are enjoying workouts that we have never done before…and like the results.

Do you need to shake up your exercise habits?

2. Time to RE-FOCUS  and break out of the old box of eating the same foods and meals.  Yes, we are proud to say         we eat very well, but we also seem to buy the same foods every time we go shopping.   We also tend to go to the         same dining spots and as much as we love our local chefs, we need to expand our food horizons.

What new foods are you going to try this new year?

3. Technology is great and necessary to stay in the game…but now we need a little break or maybe just a little less time       on the internet and more time on nature.  We are  going to RE-NEW more outdoors and travel to places that give us     fresh air rather than Facebook:)

Do you need to let go of technology a little more?

4.  Spiritual growth is calling as well in this new year. Reading, discussing and practicing is part of our                                  RE-EVALUATING process, this is an important inner exploration that is creating the YOU Year!

Is there some thing you need to re-evaluate this year?

It is important to understand that taking care of ourselves is neither selfish nor indulgent; it’s just plain practical.

Whatever you decide, making some small gesture where you put yourself first every day will pay off in spades for you and the ones you love.

The oxygen you need is all around you; sometimes you just need to be reminded to breathe!

This is the YOU YEAR!

Jena’s Hard Work Pays Off!

It is so great when you see entrepreneurship alive and well.

But I have to admit it is REALLY rewarding when it is your own family member. My daughter, Jena, has worked hard to build her business. She has networked, given talks, done trial sessions, promoted her websites and Facebook pages and given up many of her weekends to make her business successful. She is truly a special young women.

Jena just recently found out she has been nominated by Arizona Foothills Magazine for BEST OF Wedding Hair and Makeup Team, along with her girlfriend Jessi.

Because of all her hard work…I believe she deserves this.  Maybe you don’t know Jena but I am sure you know someone that is a reflection of this type of dedication and determination. I am asking a special favor…your vote for Jena & Jessi. It would mean so much to them!

YOUR NEXT STEPS IN LIFE

“It is when you are willing to listen to yourself and be fearless that figuring out your next step becomes easy.”

Our lives are made up of a complex network of pathways that we can use to move from one phase of life to the next.

For some their paths are wide, smooth, and clearly marked. Many people, however, find that they have a difficult time figuring out where they need to go next.

Determining which “next step” will land you on the most direct route to fulfillment and the realization of your life purpose may not seem easy. Often, your inner voice will counsel you that it’s time for a change, and it is very important to trust yourself because only you know what is best for you.

Personal growth always results when you let yourself expand beyond the farthest borders of what your life has been so far. Visualizing your perfect future and making a list of ways to manifest that future can help you choose a logical next step that’s in harmony with your desires.

Meditation, journal writing, taking a class, and other creative activities may inspire you and provide insight regarding the next step in life that will bring you the most satisfaction.

Beneath the fear and hesitation and uncertainty lies your inner knowing that always knows which step you need to take next. If you can allow the taking of your next step to be as easy as putting one foot in front of the next, you’ll notice that your next step is always the one that is right in front of you.

All you have to do is put one foot forward and on the ground.

What is your next step? Mine is to be in an environment more often that feeds my soul and provides for more relaxation and “quiet time” …. the sea is my sanctuary!

Our Bellies Do Not Lie!

“Our bellies can be wonderful monitors of the truth”

 There have been so many times in my life when I knew the answer to my questions just by my guttural response. It is my belief that it is our sixth sense of what keeps us connected to our TRUE EMOTIONS.

 Rather than telling people, or even ourselves, the way we truly feel, we may stuff our true feelings deep inside of us, where they take up space until we are ready to let them go.

Stuffing our feelings in our bellies may feel like the “safe” response, since we then don’t really have to deal with our emotions.

Yet, doing so can actually be detrimental to our emotional well-being and physical health.

One way to connect with and release your emotions is to do a focused exercise with your stomach area. Take a moment to center yourself with some deep breathing and quiet meditation, relaxing your body fully and turning off the chatter in your brain.

With your right hand on your stomach, tell yourself three times: “Please reveal to me my true emotions.” Listen for the answers. Repeat the exercise as many times as you would like, allowing yourself to drop deeper into your body each time.

Notice any physical response in the stomach area, whether you have a warm, relaxed feeling in the middle of your body or if you feel tight knots in response to any emotions that do come up. You may even want to write down any answers that come to you.

Remember that the body doesn’t lie.

Releasing our pent up feelings from our bellies can prevent disease and allow us to live more authentic and expressive lives.

You can’t help your feelings; if anything, you can help yourself by acknowledging the truth of your emotions so you can set yourself free.

SLOW DOWN YOU MOVE TOO FAST!

Every once in a while I read something that really strikes a chord and this did it for me!

Enjoying a Snail’s Pace from the Daily OM.

Life can often feel like it’s zipping by in fast forward. We feel obliged to accelerate our own speed along with it, until our productivity turns into frenzied accomplishment.

We find ourselves cramming as much activity as possible into the shortest periods of time. We disregard our natural rhythms because it seems we have to just to keep up. In truth, rushing never gets you anywhere but on to the next activity or goal.

Slowing down lets you become more absorbed in whatever it is you are doing. The food you eat tastes better, and the stories you read become more alive.

Learning to slow down in our fast-moving world can take practice, but if you slow down long enough to try it, you may surprise yourself with how natural and organic living at this pace can be.

I am going to take this lesson to heart and “Slow Down, You Move to Fast, Ya Gotta Make the Morning Last”…remember that song?

Ahhhh,  I feel better already!

A State of Complete Joy!

Complete JOY!

Have you ever experienced a state of complete joy for an entire one minute, how about one hour or one day?

What would that even feel like?  Is it even possible to feel complete joy? How do you sustain such a feeling.

I had the unique experience of feeling complete joy for 3 days!!! Here is what I have learned and here are some of my answers.  Yes, I was in a unusual environment because it was a family celebration…my son’s wedding.

I let go of all judgement, who came, who didn’t come, what would happen, how would this work…you know all the things you worry about and have expectations of. By the time the weekend started I made a commitment to myself that all the preparation and planning had been done and now it was time to let go and be in the moment…the joyous loving moments that came one right after another.  Nothing was forced it just flowed. Dr. Pete said it best “the love was palpable”.

I could talk about all the psychological babble about happiness and joy, but for me it comes down to “a choice”.  Do you really want JOY in YOUR life, do you want to burn bright and accept the love that surrounds you?

If you consciously choose what you want in life, it will be yours…I know this for certain. If you choose to be unhappy guess what, you will be unhappy. What choices have you made?

This is a little off subject but I have to share this article with you from the Daily OM…it is how you deal with GRUMPY PEOPLE…I loved it, I hope you do too! Once again it is about YOUR choice.
